pedipeds

I was on a call with a U.S. co-worker the other day and we got to talking about babies, and I told her how I now have a beautiful great niece (Eden, born on November 25th to my nephew Aaron and his wife, Kristin).

Anyroad, my coworker told me about pediped footwear, this great place to buy shoes.

Apparently they are very good for babies' foot development (they are endorsed by the American Podiatric Medical Association). Currently they are made for ages 0-24 mths but they are coming out with a line for older kids.

Looking at the gallery, I realized the shoes look familiar. I dug around and I see they sell them in Canada. Calgary carries them at Bo Bebe among other places. I'm sure I've seen them for sale at a kiosk in Sunridge Mall.

I think Myfanwy is going to be a bit of a shoe hound.

It's good to know that in addition to being darn cute, they are also functional and good for little feet.

From the PediPeds website:

Pediatricians now recommend that children up to two years of age go barefoot (when practical and safe) or wear lightweight, flexible footwear. This enables children’s feet to grow naturally and to develop musculature and strength. A soft-soled shoe also enables them to sense the ground beneath their feet and to grasp with their toes as they learn how to walk. Doing so promotes healthy foot development, ensures children’s growing feet are not constricted and enables them to develop foot strength. pediped™ footwear have soft, cushioned leather soles and soft, flexible leather uppers. They are not only fashion-forward, but are actually good for children’s developing feet.
