Too bad I'm not much of a sewer (uh, that can't be the right word - I guess I should say seamstress again).
But, guess what I got in the mail yesterday - an Ethiopian quilt for Myfanwy!
How cool is this?!
This shot has a better representation of the colors and shows the back:
My friend Kerry had bought one and auctioned it off at the face to face fundraiser (of course it was well bid on). I absolutely loved it so I ordered one for M. I will put it somewhere in her nursery. I don't think we'll actually use it - I think I'll keep it as a decorative piece. Maybe I'll display it up on her wall.
If you like the look of it, check out Kim's website at Nora Mack Handmades and ask her if she can make one for you too. You have a choice of the colors and fabrics. Kim makes other stuff too - check out the Rasta Dress - too cute!
I bet you could get one made for any country you are adopting from (it doesn't have to be for an adoption, of course). Tasha, I'm thinking your Uzbekistan "sumo wrestler" map would look great on a quilt!
