I screwed up knitting on the color changes. I had planned to have all the shifts appear on just one side (the wrong side) as instructed in the pattern, but I haven't quite gotten the hang of the logistics of which end to bind off on (I'll bet there's math involved, in addition to knowing your right from your left, thus I am stymied). So if you look closely you can see the single line of Orchid is missing down the middle. Fortunately, I quite like the effect of having that single vein of color appear inconsistently (I do. honest) so I'm ok if it alternates sides. And now that I've said that, I probably won't be able to repeat the error on purpose.
I did originally state that I was using 3 colors - I've added a fourth because A) I was getting sick of the ice cream colors, and 2) the pattern called for 4 colors. If you've met me in person, you probably know I have a thing for acid greens, thus the bright choice of Granny Smith - right between the eyes (it doesn't look as bright on the web site). And thanks again to AK for showing me the EASY WAY of knitting on a new color (without the crying and the cursing and the gnashing of teeth). I thought I would have to change needles PDQ - these 12'' seem very short. Or else I thought I would have to create this blanket in sections and then sew them together - the pattern doesn't say to do that, so I was confused. However, AK confirmed for me that I'm doing it right and I just need to keep scrunching up the knitting on the working needle. Alrighty then.
I am loving this book, by the way. I bought it and hope to make many more items from it. I'll have M in a sweater knit by moi if it kills me (and it might).
