The reason I mention this piece of minutia from my life is that our waitress, in one of her more inspired moments of the evening (and what possibly saved her tip), said we reminded her of the SATC ladies.
Now, when you're an old bag like me, complimentary comparisons like that are few and far between (though I really can't speak for Cheryle & Kara, who are two lovely ladies still in the youthful days of their mid-thirties).Now, it's entirely possible she compared us to that group because we were loud, laughing, and drinking martinis (lychee martinis, which were surprisingly delicious). I'm quite sure it wasn't because of my spectacular running shoes (but Cheryle was wearing some great flats). And it wasn't because of our sexy conversation - we talked mommy talk and mommy-to-be talk - although there was some talk of baps (breastfeeding and bras).
So maybe it was because for a couple of hours we were able to leave the daily routine and our various titles behind and just be the gals we are at heart. Spending some time with people who know us the best, laughing and letting it all hang out. I think that's got a certain amount of 'fabulousness' about it that rubs off on you, no matter what you're wearing.
I'm not sure which of the SATC women I would be - maybe Miranda. I usually feel very Miranda, but there are days I've felt each character. Which character do you most associate with? I've added a poll to the right menu for you to take.
I have watched every episode of the TV show countless times, relating to some of the plots because the women are my age and single. Of course, some of the story lines are way outrage. Really - who would spend a month's rent on a pair of shoes or a dress?? (maybe I would have in my 30's if I could have afforded it). And I NEVER partied or slept around like these characters (not even in my 20's).
Now I am very excited about the May 30th release of the SATC movie. This one I will bother to see while it's still playing in the theatre.
