A Vangroovy friend

Because I didn't blog about her lamb tenderloin during her previous Calgary visit, this post is for Barbara, complete with food pictures.

((hmmm, this is the same picture I took with Suzanne. I'll have to switch it up next time. At least my boobs aren't sitting on the table this time ala Tasha's profile picture.)

I met Barbara through my blog - she emailed me back in August to say 'hi' and to tell me what a HUGE fan of my work she is (I'm jesting). Actually she wanted to introduce herself as another Canadian, single woman adopting from Ethiopia. The date she emailed me was the date she found out her file had been sent to Ethiopia and she was officially waiting. Now, she has court approval and is the official mom to lovely Makeda. Travel will probably be in May. Woot!

Since last August, I have hooked up a few times with Barbara as she comes to Calgary on business on a regular basis. We always go for cocktails and sometimes we bother to eat dinner too. In fact, one night there were a bunch of us single PAPs who got together for dinner at Earls.

Tonight we went to Fassil for yummy Ethiopian food.

(Yes ALK, we had the scrumptious fish [Asa Tibs]. Sorry, no morsels left to bring for you to Fat Fighters tomorrow night.)

Unfortunately, Barbara doesn't have a blog (yet) so I can't link you to her. But trust me, she fits the IMASLUT* criteria perfectly. Amazingly, she is taller than me - this is the main reason I like her. Well that plus her personality and sense of humour. Oh yeah, and she lives in Vancouver and it's important to have friends who live in Vancouver so I can visit and hang out along the sea wall, watching boys in shorts and no shirts parade by.

In the meantime, I need to orchestrate more ways for more of my adoptive circle of friends to meet my normal friends. And by normal I mean non-adopting, because let's face it, the adoption process makes you crazy.

*IAMASLUT = International Adoption Mothers Association - Single, Lovely, Unique, Talented (of course, this moniker is courtesy of the lovely and talented Tasha)
