These forms are my application to sponsor Myfanwy's entry into Canada. Of course, I don't have a referral yet so she is named as "Unknown Child" at this point.
Yes, I am still going the old route of having Myfanwy enter Canada as a Landed Immigrant (with Canadian citizenship to follow after). This despite Bill C-14 and the fact that yesterday, following that new bill, the first, internationally adopted child was granted Canadian citizenship in her birth country (China) before arriving in Canada.
My update from CAFAC yesterday still suggests we stick to the old procedure until all of the ramifications of Bill C-14 have been determined (for example, with the new bill, our children may lose their Ethiopian citizenship; also the new bill may make it faster or slower to bring the children home).
Now, before you applaud my monumental achievement, just a reminder - I could have filed this application back in November, 2007. Yes, I procrastinated for that long, folks. But only because it wasn't holding up the speed of the adoption or referral. I guess I was just suffering from
The application is comprised of a number of forms, including:
IMM 1344A "Application to Sponsor and Undertaking"
IMM 1283 "Financial Evaluation" (*sigh* yes another one)
IMM 5476 "Use of a Representative"
and of course, "mo' money, mo' money, mo' money" going to the "gub mint"
But now, I really am done filling out forms until I get that magical referral.
But by then, I won't mind filling out anymore paperwork.
