Visions of sugar plum fairies

Smart girl that I am, I have remembered to purchase tickets to this

Swan Lake, Moscow Ballet, November

and this

Nutcracker, Alberta Ballet, December

But if I was really smart I would have brought them sooner and gotten even better seats. I wonder if I can buy for 2008 yet...? (computer says 'no')

I love love love Swan Lake and the Nutcracker. I get tears in my eyes and knots in my stomach from playing the music or watching my DVDs (especially if Baryshnikov is dancing).

This will be the first time I see Swan Lake live. Nutcracker I have seen a few times. I plan to make at least the Nutcracker a yearly family tradition for me and Myfanwy once she's a few years old. Yes, I might just turn into one of those blasted parents with their whining, crying kids that annoy the heck out of everyone else in the theatre who paid good money to sit and enjoy the performance. Sigh. I guess we'll brave the matinees which are a bit more kid friendly.

I wonder if M will have any interest in dance and music? That's one thing that I can't count on - passing my interests and talents down to my daughter through my genes. Not that there is any guarantee of it if I were to give birth to my child.

For her sake, I hope she has some interest in the arts because I'm going to be dragging her butt around to all sorts of events. And sending her to dance lessons. And doing Mommy & Me pottery classes.
