Isaac's Story (and my 100th post)

Along that whole starfish theme, big thanks to Melissa for bringing this blog and the story of Isaac and Jocelyn to my attention.

Wow.

Jocelyn is a single adoptive mom from California, currently in Liberia bringing her 7-year old son, Isaac, home. Isaac is no ordinary boy. In addition to having the greatest, most heart warming smile, he also has a life-threatening spinal deformity and he requires surgery to save his life as soon as he arrives in the U.S.

I have spent some time skimming through Jocelyn's blog today and catching up on Isaac's story, and WOW, what a story it is. I dare you to read it with a dry eye. I encourage you to check this blog out. And if you like, you can make a donation to help Jocelyn cover her adoption fees at the Bring Isaac Home $1 Adoption Site. This is truly an inspirational and humbling story. I'm so glad I checked it out.

Here's Jocelyn's blurb from her fundraising page:

MEET ISAAC
I started Isaac’s adoption on February 13, 2007, after seeing a special on Discover Health Channel about life saving spinal surgeries. Isaac is currently at Acres of Hope orphanage in Liberia and is considered special needs due to a life threatening spinal deformity that has caused his spine to collapse. He is 36 inches tall and weighs a mere 34 pounds. He is a handsome, bright 7 year old boy trapped in a body the size of a 3 year old.

A SPECIAL SITUATION
Isaac’s adoption has been sped up to get him to America for immediate medical care. Upon arriving in the United States, Isaac will undergo complete spinal reconstructive surgery to repair the damage in his body. This has left me with no time to raise money to pay for his adoption. I feel that I need to do whatever I can to raise the money for Isaac’s adoption fees. That is where you come in. I need your HELP!

JOIN IN, YOU CAN HELP
I need $8,000 in order to pay off Isaac’s adoption fees.I am traveling back to Liberia in August 2007 to pick up Isaac and bring him home. Please help me to raise the money I need to pay off his fees before he comes home

Oh yes, and this is my 100th post!

I had something witty written, but then I read Jocelyn's blog and that totally obliterated the wish to post my original drivel. I'll save it for another day.

But, since this is #100, I will just say that I'm so glad I started blogging because it's a great venue for venting, learning, meeting amazing people, and staying in touch with my friends' lives.

I am highly entertained, touched, and enlightened everyday by the great blogs out there. It is an honor to be able to share in so many people's lives - even if it's just in blogdom.

Of course, I sincerely thank you for reading my blog, I love, love, love the comments and hey, for you lurkers, in honor of my 100th, just de-lurk for a sec and say "hi." I don't bite and I would love to hear from you. Or you can just sign my Guest Map there on the right-hand side. I hope to hear from you.
