Oh the joys...

...of packing and moving.

I have been living in the midst of this

and this

for the past week or so.

Da boys couldn't be bothered by the mess & clutter.

I, however, am quickly annoyed when living like this. But the pain is short term for long term gain. I can not wait to move into the new house on Friday. Tomorrow lunchtime, I get the keys and it is MINE.

I have been thinking so much about this new house and how this is going to be the home my daughter comes home to from Ethiopia. I have been thinking of how to decorate and how I want it to feel to her - like a family, kid-friendly home. Till now I've liked everything 'just so' - not in a fussy way, but pretty neat, tidy, and modern in style. I'm actually looking forward to relaxing the decor a bit and being more playful, adding more color, and such.

But that will come later. For now, I have to go back to packing. I'm really happy with my progress; most everything is packed up. I just hate those last few things that you have to leave till the end - the bed, the last load of laundry, boxing up the PC, clearing out the fridge, etc etc. I also want to bathe da boys tomorrow night. I was going to do so tonight but Midge gave himself a fright by getting caught up in a shopping bag that he couldn't escape from. I tried to pick him up but he just ran around the house & finally hid behind the computer desk. I had to wait for him to calm down so I could coax him out and remove the handle from around his neck. That's enough trauma for one night. Why bathe da boys just before moving, you ask? Besides being a glutton for punishment, it is because they have a ton of fur I can't get out with the brush (I've been looking for a more effective one) and I think they are shedding from the winter. So my allergies are driving me berserk (and I don't sneeze like a lady - I'm sure my neighbours can hear me). I want to have the worst of their loose hair out before we move. We'll see how I do, I guess ;-) I will try to take pictures of them during the 'drowned rat' phase of the procedure. They will be so pleased to be caught thus.

I haven't been on the computer much lately as I've been head down in full packing mode - just returning the occasional email, taking the occasional call. Actually this week I was also busy getting a bunch of blood work done for my dossier - tomorrow I go for my TB test results before I pick up my new keys. Funnily enough, I gave blood last Thursday (I'm a regular, 56-day Canadian Blood Services donor) and it was quite painful (very unusual) and it's still sore today. I find that funny because I had a bunch of other needles on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday and that arm is fine. As a side note, I found out I am low in iron and have to start supplements. This came as no surprise during my check up this week because CBS almost didn't let me donate because I was low, but I squeaked by. My diet has been pure shite lately, so it's no wonder, really. It also explains why I've been craving ice cubes. No lie.

*yawn*

This post is dry as dust. I'm sure you are as thrilled by it as I am. So much for a quick note to say I'm still around but busy. Instead I am prattling on and on.

But I really do have to go now - I think I'll go bag the spare bed mattresses.

And because I didn't book Shaw early enough, I will be off line from Friday till sometime on Tuesday. Can I tell you how much THIS SUCKS!! No cable, no Internet - BAH!!

Oh well, I guess I'll get my unpacking done and my immigration paperwork :-)

Toodles for now.

Enjoy the long weekend, my fellow Canucks - it should be a lovely hot one!
