So, I have to come up with 7 Random Things About Moi. Well, there are many random things about me - trouble is, can I find seven things anyone will give a toss about. Oh well, here goes anyway:
1. I recently broke the }] key on my new laptop, making typing this sentence rather painful. I don't know if I can fudge it with glue or if I need it to be repaired. (update: The help desk is getting me either a new key or a new keyboard. No biggie in the end)
2. I have fallen victim to the evilness that is Facebook. As of yet, I am not addicted as I don't have time for another online time-sucker-awayer. Blogs are bad enough. However, I have run across some old friends lately, which is Way Cool (that one's for you, Jude, if you can remember that far back. I just thought of it while typing!)
3. I studied to be a dancer at the University of Calgary. I danced all day, every day, with a few general study classes thrown in for good measure. I loved the classes and the performances were magic! And I might have gone pro if I had completed a degree. But at that time (the Stone Ages), the U of C did not have a degree in dance and I wasn't ready to move to Simon Fraser University (in BC) or to the states. One of my dance teachers was trying to get me to audition for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and another suggested the Martha Graham Dance Company. I chickened out. Instead of pursuing my love of dance, I left university after 3 years and stopped dancing completely for about 10 years. Sigh. I could have been a contender.
4. I was born in England and haven't been back since I left, which was 32 years ago. If I could, I would move back in a second! It's a real dream of mine. Even though I've lived the majority of my life in Canada, I still consider England to be my home. ALSO, I have a very good Calgary friend who was born in the same county as me AND her Da shares the same birthdate as my late Da (and no, our families didn't know each).
5. I used to model for Patti Falconer Models back in the day (also during the Stone Ages). I hated modelling though because of the fakeness of it (and because I was still pretty shy back then - which is why my Mom encouraged me to try it - to build confidence) It was a game that I couldn't be arsed to play. But I have nothing against models - I know some very nice models & one of my favorite shows is America's Next Top Model.
6. If you know me pretty well, you probably know I don't answer the phone between 0730 and 1000 hours on Sunday mornings because I'm watching Coronation Street.
7. After all these years, I still have a thing for Hugh Grant. Yes, despite his brush with Divine Brown and his recent baked beans incident. I have loved him from his Lady and the Highwayman days. Something about that floppy hair, those droopy eyes, and that toffee-nosed accent - YUM! He's my perfect man...minus the thing for bangers and beans. (did you get my clever little play on words there? Pretty good, huh?)
So, there's my not-so-magnificent seven. They are also not the most interesting things about me, but they are random. Now I have to tag 7 lucky blogging friends...hmmm..
Ok, I choose Gina, JunieB (private), Chou2, Tanya, and Nicky. Not quite seven people but just a few bloggers who I know who comment here and who I would love to hear more about. Feel free to decline if you wish. I don't do chain mail myself but this was actually fun in the end and once I had time to do it.
The rules of the game: If you have been tagged, you write your 7 random things in your blog and include the rules of the game. Then you tag 7 new people and list their names on your blog. Then you go to their blog and add a comment to let them know they've been hit...er, I mean tagged and to read your blog for details.
