On Friday, a few of us SMBCs went to Fassil for Ethiopian dinner - our last chance before Gina and Samara move back to BC. It was a fun dinner, as always, but I was sad because I can't yet believe that my friends are leaving town this week.
Barbara was in town for part of last week with work and was able to be there for dinner as well. Then on Saturday, she took me as her guest to her company's Stampede event. I couldn't pass up a free ticket to the rodeo. Yahoo!! We didn't see that much of the actual event as we were either busy yakking, getting drinks, or scarfing down delicious hotdogs. What can I say. I did wear my cowboy hat though. I don't go to Stampede every year, but it's always fun. And the weather was perfect until we left when the first of two showers hit us.
We left before the end of the rodeo because good friends Marelise and Brad were getting married at Heritage Park Saturday evening.

I'll admit, I started crying the moment I saw the bride descending the steps to the dock (we were all waiting on the boat), and I kept it up throughout the lovely ceremony on the boat. There was a great dinner and reception afterward. It was one of those truly fun weddings where you are totally relaxed and enjoying yourself and you can tell the bride and groom are as well. They are such a great couple. I know they are going to be so happy together. Technically speaking, I guess Marelise is no longer an adoptive SMBC, but we won't hold that against her. And my God, but she was a beautiful, glowing bride! Her gown was perfect.
Too bad I didn't get any really good pictures. I was too busy enjoying the event. Now, if I can only win that Stampede Rotary Dream House... Fingers crossed.
