I went on a bit of a road trip this weekend with Mom. My nephew was playing in the Hockey Alberta Provincials tournament in Hardisty, Alberta. That's about 4.5 hours from Calgary and we all stayed in Wainwright, which is another 45 minutes East.
Although the Hythe Mustangs didn't do great, it was wonderful to watch them play (apparently, it's only the second time the team has made these provincials in decades). I haven't seen John play in about a year and now he's bigger and they allow the players to really check each other quite hard, making for a much more physical game. Oy, it was tough to watch a few times! In fact, one player (on another team) left the ice in an ambulance (as a precaution - thankfully he checked out okay).
The drive out there was beautiful--coming back, not so much--a snow storm moved in. Fortunately, the roads back to Calgary got better and so my knuckles weren't digging into the steering wheel the whole time.
And I mention all this because it meant I've been absent from THE DRAMA in the Canadian Ethiopian adoption program this weekend. I was going to link to the CBC articles but I won't. I am PARANOID of commenting or posting anything negative that might jeopardize my adoption.
So instead, I say onward and upward. It's Monday tomorrow. On to a new week and another week closer to Myfanwy.
