I read this yesterday and it didn't sit well with me, to be honest:
Pink told Star Magazine: “I don’t know if I need to have my own (children). I rescue dogs, so I would probably rescue kids. I feel like with global warming and all, why produce more?”Because she usually seems pretty intelligent, I'm going to give Pink the benefit of the doubt and say she's just talking
out of her ass from 'the other side' of adoption - she's not yet a prospective/adoptive parent/member of the adoption community-by-proxy so she hasn't gone through the
edu-macation that the rest of us have. So her adoptive language is on the annoying side - as in
I'm sure she's really not comparing an orphaned child to a dog or comparing the act of child adoption to animal adoption. And that's just
one of the points of her quote that are bugging me. I'll presume that once she has become a bit more aware she will watch what she says and consider how an adopted child would feel about the way she speaks.
Until she gets to that point, I'll respectfully request that she keep her mouth shut on the matter in the press.
Too harsh?
